Clean and safe water is essential for the health of the people and water is a necessary input for agriculture, industrial and other forms of activities. Within Babati town area of jurisdiction there are about 101 springs which basically are the potential sources of water to the town centre residents and for all economic activities. Some of these generate on the foot slopes of the hills scattered over the town area including the Mountain Kwaraa which also have one water precipitation on the top which percolate down through the supplying system.

The boreholes made in the water reserved area at Maisaka Bonde la Maji where water table was identified to be exceptionally high. Currently there is one borehole at Ngarenaro about 250m from Lake Babati northern shores which supply water to the newly planned and surveyed areas including Regional Head Quarters.
